94: Public Art

Another scene on one of our regular routes. This fence and paintings are set back from the road a bit, and I've often wondered what those bits of blue were. I finally decided to stop today, and I couldn't help but wonder, is this message personal?

I checked out this website, but I can't say it shed any light on this particular project.

Not sure if this last one is related in any way. A surprising piece to find by the side of the road either way.

  1. I like the last one! It looks like an elementary school notebook page :)

  2. "Quit being Stupid" -- interesting.

I was looking through quotes from people born today & found this interesting one from Pope John Paul II: “Stupidity is also a gift of God, but one mustn't misuse it” ...unfortunately, I can't find the larger larger speech to figure out context.

  3. Graffiti without destruction. I love how the one that looks like it could be Iron Man (a la Black Sabbath) is lying neglected on the ground, waiting for someone to notice him.
    ...
    Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head
    We'll just pass him there
    Why should we even care?

  5. A whale! I like that reading! I don't know what I thought it was. I was leaning toward car-eating machine, but that's due to the influence of the nearby highway.

  7. Totally. And something about just putting it on a board, rather than a wall, elevates it to "art" for most people.

  8. Sorry about the double post. Most of the comments went away for a while for me so I reposted an abbreviated version :)

I'm not sure about elevating, but it can remove some of the ego, which is sometimes a deterrent for me liking something.

  11. Thanks, Jehan! That painting was my favorite, but I never did come up with a way to photograph it that I was happy with.

And Charles, I forgot to say, we listen to that song every. single. day.
